PD pattern recognition based on multi-fractal dimension in GIS

摘要: This paper designs four types of gas insulated substation (GIS) defect models based on partial discharge (PD) characteristics and its defections. The GIS gray intensity images are constructed based on the mass specimens gathered by the ultra-high frequency and high-speed sampling systems. The multi-fractal dimension is founded on the box-counting dimension and multi-fractal theories. The GIS gray intensity images distillation methods, based on multi-fractal characteristics, is put forward. The box-counting dimension, multi-fractal dimension, and discharge centrobaric characteristics of the PD images are also extracted. The characteristic variables are then classified by the radial basis function (RBF) network. Identified results show that the methods can effectively elevate the discrimination of the four types of defects in GIS.

Local arc discharge mechanism and requirements of power supply in micro-arc oxidation of magnesium alloy

摘要: To study the requirements of the power supply in micro-arc oxidation (MAO) of magnesium alloy, many experiments were performed under the DC, unipolar, and ambipolar pulse output modes. Based on the experimental results and electric arc theory, the separate local arc discharge mechanism was put forward. It is considered that magnesium MAO process consists of three stages including anodic oxidation, micro-arc oxidation, and large-arc discharge in turn with increasing source voltage. The MAO film is composed of metal oxides that resulted from numerous discrete local arc discharges, which accumulate the non-equilibrium structure after undergoing sudden heating and cooling cycles. Separate local arc discharge is caused by the process in which the oxygen-based gas is ionized in the conduct channel bearing electric field intensity, changed from insulator to conductor that presents sharp negative resistance effect, and produced partially high temperature to ignite locally metal oxidation. The local arc discharge model is described as four courses: gas created from electrolysis, arc discharge, metals oxidization, and cooling and shrinking of oxides. The purpose of pulse supply is to inhibit the large-arc discharge by intervening proper cooling time, which cannot be actualized by a unipolar pulse mode because of the strong capacitive load characteristics but can be reached by an ambipolar pulse supply because the negative pulse period acts as cooling time. Using a discharge loop to remove the influence of load capacitive, a new type of pulse power supply for MAO is developed, so that the large-arc problem is resolved effectively, the film-forming efficiency is improved, and the pollution of the film and electrolyte caused by negative voltage is avoided.

The discharge characteristics during the degradation of MNZ by DBD were investigated.

Increasing the discharge frequency can promote the degradation of MNZ.

MNZ removal reaches 99.1% at the initial concentration of 40 ppm within 120 min.

Zero increase in peak discharge for sustainable development

摘要: For urban land development, some or all natural land uses (primarily pervious) are converted into impervious areas which lead to increases of runoff volume and peak discharge. Most of the developed countries require a zero increase in peak discharge for any land development, and the policy has been implemented for several decades. The policy of zero increase in peak discharge can be considered as historical and early stage for the low impact development (LID) and sustainable development, which is to maintain natural hydrological conditions by storing a part or all of additional runoff due to the development on site. The paper will discuss the policy, the policy implementation for individual projects and their impact on regional hydrology. The design rainfalls for sizing LID facilities that are determined in 206 weather stations in USA are smaller than design rainfalls for sizing detention basins. The zero-increase policy links to financial responsibility and sustainability for construction of urban stormwater infrastructures and for reducing urban flooding. The policy was compared with current practices of urban development in China to shine the light for solving urban stormwater problems. The connections and differences among LID practices, the zero-increase policy, and the flood control infrastructure were discussed. We promote and advocate the zero-increase policy on peak discharge for comprehensive stormwater management in China in addition to LID.

Plasma-assisted oxidation of benzoic acid

摘要: Plasma-assisted oxidation of organic compounds is one of the developing technologies for wastewater treatment. Plasmas effectively accelerate degradation processes due to plasma generated reactive species and ultra-violet radiation. Oxidation of benzoic acid in aqueous solutions by the atmospheric pressure glow discharge and underwater diaphragm discharge was studied and monitored by fluorescence and spectrophotometric methods. Discharge type and solution pH affect the formation rates of mono- and dihydroxybenzoic acids. Dihydroxyl derivatives were formed only by glow discharge action. The yields of hydroxyl radical were estimated on the kinetics data for the hydroxylation of benzoic acid. The steps of the hydroxylation processes and further oxidation were described.

Conversion of methane through dielectric-barrier discharge plasma

摘要: Methane coupling to produce C hydrocarbons through a dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reaction was studied in four DBD reactors. The effects of high voltage electrode position, different discharge gap, types of inner electrode, volume ratio of hydrogen to methane and air cooling method on the conversion of methane and distribution of products were investigated. Conversion of methane is obviously lower when a high voltage electrode acts as an outer electrode than when it acts as an inner electrode. The lifting of reaction temperature becomes slow due to cooling of outer electrode and the temperature can be controlled in the expected range of 60°C–150°C for ensuring better methane conversion and safe operation. The parameters of reactors have obvious effects on methane conversion, but it only slightly affects distribution of the products. The main products are ethylene, ethane and propane. The selectivity of C hydrocarbons can reach 74.50% when volume ratio of hydrogen to methane is 1.50.

Liquid discharge plasma for fast biomass liquefaction at mild conditions: The effects of homogeneous

摘要: Non-thermal plasma exhibits unique advantages in biomass conversion for the sustainable production of higher-value energy carriers. Different homogeneous catalysts are usually required for plasma-enabled biomass liquefaction to achieve time-and energy-efficient conversions. However, the effects of such catalysts on the plasma-assisted liquefaction process and of the plasma on those catalysts have not been thoroughly studied. In this study, an electrical discharge plasma is employed to promote the direct liquefaction of sawdust in a mixture of polyethylene glycol 200 and glycerol. Three commonly used chemicals, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and sodium -toluene sulfate, were selected as catalysts. The effects of the type of catalyst and concentration on the liquefaction yield were examined; further, the roles of the catalysts in the plasma liquefaction process have been discussed. The results showed that the liquefaction yield attains a value of 90% within 5 min when 1% sulfuric acid was employed as the catalyst. Compared with the other catalysts, sulfuric acid presents the highest efficiency for the liquefaction of sawdust. It was observed that hydrogen ions from the catalyst were primarily responsible for the significant thermal effects on the liquefaction system and the generation of large quantities of active species; these effects directly contributed to a higher efficacy of the plasma-enabled liquefaction process.

Continuous flow removal of acid fuchsine by dielectric barrier discharge plasma water bed enhanced by

摘要: Continuous processes which allow for large amount of wastewater to be treated to meet drainage standards while reducing treatment time and energy consumption are urgently needed. In this study, a dielectric barrier discharge plasma water bed system was designed and then coupled with granular activated carbon (GAC) adsorption to rapidly remove acid fuchsine (AF) with high efficiency. Effects of feeding gases, treatment time and initial concentration of AF on removal efficiency were investigated. Results showed that compared to the N and air plasmas treatments, O plasma processing was most effective for AF degradation due to the strong oxidation ability of generated activated species, especially the OH radicals. The addition of GAC significantly enhanced the removal efficiency of AF in aqueous solution and shorten the required time by 50%. The effect was attributed to the ability of porous carbon to trap and concentrate the dye, increasing the time dye molecules were exposed to the plasma treated solution, and to enhance the production of OH radicals on/in GAC to boost the degradation of dyes by plasma as well as in situ regenerate the exhausted GAC. The study offers a new opportunity for continuous effective remediation of wastewater contaminated with organic dyes using plasma technologies.

Effect of glow discharge plasma on rhodium-based catalyst for oxygenates synthesis

摘要: Rhodium-based catalysts were prepared by impregnation, treated with glow discharge plasma, characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, H2 temperature-programmed reduction, H2 temperature-programmed desorption and CO temperature-programmed desorption, and investigated for oxygenate synthesis from CO hydrogenation. Based on the characterization results, plasma treatment endowed the samples with smaller particle size, higher dispersion of active components, and an enrichment of active components on the surface as well. As a result, the reducibility and adsorption properties were modified. In catalytic tests, the catalytic activity for CO hydrogenation over the samples treated by plasma was improved remarkably: the conversion of CO and the yield of oxygenates increased at most by a factor of 78.62% and 51.96%, respectively, while the selectivity of ethanol and methanol in the oxygenates was enhanced as well.

Analysis and design of pulse frequency modulation dielectric barrier discharge for low power applications

摘要: For low power dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) used in small-size material treatment or portable devices, highstep transformer parasitic capacitance greatly influences the performance of the resonant converter as it is of the same order of magnitude as the equivalent capacitance of DBD load. In this paper, steady-state analysis of the low power DBD is presented, considering the inevitable parasitic capacitance of the high-step transformer. The rectifier-compensated first harmonic approximation (RCFHA) is applied to linearize the equivalent load circuit of DBD at low frequency and the derived expressions are accurate and convenient for the analysis and design of the power supply. Based on the proposed linear equivalent load circuit, the influence of transformer parasitic capacitance on the key parameters, including the frequency range and the applied electrode voltage, is discussed when the power is regulated with pulse frequency modulation (PFM). Also, a design procedure is presented based on the derived expressions. A prototype is constructed according to the design results and the accuracy of the design is verified by experimental results.

Ni/MgO catalyst prepared via dielectric-barrier discharge plasma with improved catalytic performance

摘要: A Ni/MgO catalyst was prepared via novel dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD) plasma decomposition method. The combined characterization of Brunauer-Emmett-Teller measurement, X-ray diffraction, hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction and transmission electron microscopy shows that DBD plasma treatment enhances the support-metal interaction of Ni/MgO catalyst and facilitates the formation of smaller Ni particles. Sphere-like Ni particles form on plasma treated Ni/MgO catalysts. The plasma treated Ni/MgO catalyst shows a significantly improved low temperature activity and good stability for CO reforming of methane to syngas.

Species distribution of arsenic in sediments after an unexpected emergent discharge of high-arsenic wastewater

摘要: The unexpected emergent discharge of high-arsenic wastewater into water environments results in significantly increased levels of arsenic in water; however, the species distribution of arsenic in sediments has never been reported before for such cases. This study focuses on an As pollution accident in the Dasha River, and uses sequential extraction procedures with deionized water, 1?mol·L MgCl at pH= 8, 1?mol·L NaH PO at pH= 5, and 1?mol·L HCl to investigate four binding phases of arsenic (i.e., water soluble, ion-exchangeable, strongly-bound, and precipitates) in sediments at different layers in different cross-sections along the river. The average ratio of arsenite (As(III)) to arsenate (As(V)) was found to decrease from 0.74:1 in river water to 0.48:1 in sediment, owing to its higher affinity toward As(V) than As(III). The content of arsenic in the sediments was relatively low and the maximum content was observed to be 36.3?mg·kg for As(III) and 97.5?mg·kg for As(V). As(III) and As(V) showed different binding phases in sediments, and the average fractions of these four species were determined to be 0.09, 0.11, 0.17, and 0.63 for As(III) and 0.03, 0.14, 0.63, and 0.20 for As(V), respectively. For all the sediment samples, the content of arsenic showed no relationship with the characteristics of the sediments such as the particle diameter, the content of organic carbon, Fe, and Mn, although a negative correlation with particle diameter was observed for the sediments in the uppermost 2-cm layer. The unexpected emergent As incident results in the high content of total arsenic in the surface sediment, which may be potential secondary source to the elevated As levels in surface water.

非常泄洪设施对大坝防洪安全的研究

摘要:

文章引人随机微分方程,采用泄洪风险分析方法评估水电站采用非常泄洪设施对大坝安全所带来的影响,并结合某一工程设置两条非常泄洪洞的可行性进行论证。在充分分析计算条件对风险率灵敏性的前提下,讨论了调洪方案下两条非常泄洪洞启用的条件及相关的泄洪风险,为导流洞改建方案的确定提供依据。分析结果表明该方案基本维持原设计方案的泄洪风险水平,说明设置非常泄洪设施是可行的。
